Yankees opt to let veteran pitcher walk to free agency

While the Yankees were pondering whether to keep Gerrit Cole or let their ace walk by 5 p.m., Monday, they cut ties on Sunday with veteran reliever Lou Trivino.
The Yankees passed on vesting a $5-million club option for the 2025 season on Trivino, who made $1.5 million this year trying and failing to pitch his way back to the majors after undergoing Tommy John surgery on May 3, 2023.
